First generation versus current
The first-generation ladder runs from LKR 9.2 million at 2014 to about LKR 13.2 million at 2018. The step-up across the border, 2023 onwards, starts at LKR 17.2 million, so the cheapest current-generation car costs about the same as the most expensive first-generation one seller asks. If the budget says LKR 9 to 13 million, the 2014 to 2018 cars are where the stock is; above LKR 17 million the market is nearly all current generation.
